EMMETT THERAPY

"Light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissues of the body"

WHAT IS EMMETT ?

Emmett Therapy is used to ease pain and discomfort, increase muscle movement, and improve quality of life. Developed by Ross Emmett, the Emmett Technique is an internationally recognised practice taught in over 40 countries worldwide.

The EMMETT Technique is a unique form of body relaxation therapy for both people and animals, involving the application of light finger pressure at specific points.  It is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissues of the body, and that the therapist may thereby help relieve feelings of tension.

Many people find they feel more at ease within their body and their emotional well being is enhanced. Animals appear more calm and at ease.

The result is often instantaneous feelings of greater comfort.

EMMETT is truly a complementary therapy

.

It may be applied in isolation but it also combines easily with all other bodywork and exercise specialities such as massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy, Bowen therapy, craniosacral therapy, yoga, Pilates and personal training as some typical examples.

HOW CAN EMMETT HELP ME ?

The Emmett Technique, although extremely simple and easy to deliver, can be quite profound in what it can achieve. In fact, the possibilities are still being explored as to what it can be used for, just by the use of touch on the appropriate, specific points.

Here are a list of symptoms that may be helped by the application of the Emmett Technique.

WHEN YOU VISIT

Before you arrive you will be asked to wear a plain cotton t- shirt and cotton jogging trousers, leggings, shorts or similar clothing.

Emmett Therapy and Bowen Therapy are performed over light clothing, the thinner the material the better, jeans or heavy clothing are not advised & your therapist may not be able to target certain areas through thick or non stretch material.

Your therapist will use gentle rolling moves over specific muscles, tendons & ligaments and also light pressure points held to release tension in various muscle groups.

Scar Release (MSRT) requires skin contact, only the area being treated will uncovered. During the session you will be covered with towels for your comfort unless you do not wish.

The therapies are very relaxing and gentle but are extremely effective. Majority of clients report positive changes after only one session.

Your therapist will take a thorough medical history including any previous falls, accidents, surgeries, diagnostics, medication / supplements and how your pain or current issues affect your day to day life.  A gait assessment will be conducted (how you walk and move) and mobility of joints. The assessments are non invasive. The full bodywork can be performed seated, standing or lying on the couch, whichever is more comfortable for yourself.

"My grandmother had suffered from chronic leg pain and doctors had been unable to find a solution, after one visit to Beverley the pain had gone. On this recommendation I visited Beverley with a bad back and was amazed at the results after one session. Lovely woman and couldn't recommend highly enough."
